yep.
i began my internship.
at the local alternative middle school for at risk youth.
although it is a little (HOLY COW... more like SOOO) scary and intimidating, i think (hope) i'll love it.
the staff members that i'm working with are incredible and so so sweet.
it will be an incredible learning and growing experience.
but...
i miss spending most of my time in the classroom!
taking notes and having discussions!
wearing fun clothes...
(now i wear slacks and sweaters and normal adult attire with no holes or coffee stains... yuck)
and working on group projects with these ladies!
(see how much fun we have)
instead i'm working on individual papers, journals and being a lonely lowly student intern.
i have lost all sense of a social life.
at least last semester during group meetings, activities and discussions i had time to socialize and work on my social skills.
now i will probably become increasingly socially inept, awkward and (if its possible) pale.
but thursday is my highlight day:
where i get to go back to the classroom for my capstone senior seminar
where we get to gush about our internships
where i am back to being with my community and peer group.
where i get to wear holey, coffee stained, comfy, fun clothes!
i miss community, accountability, excitement for scholastic and academic work.
being a student is fun when you love what you are learning!
i don't know if i'm ever suppose to work...
maybe the life of a student is the life for me!
yo ho yo ho.
